Here is a big problem ....

What Monitor do I have to choose ?

I think that every A320 builders has encontred the problem : The 19' CRT is perfect for 3D MIP (real size). But above the Panel, there is the glareshield that allow the monitor to be 6 cm Max above the ND. So i f I set the monitor just below the glareshield, we see it below the MIP. We can mask it with the foot rest, but there is still about 5 cm to hide !

So, how do you solve this problem ? Any special Monitor I can't find ? Can we pull out the screen from the housing ? Is it difficult ? Does it really help ?

Do we have to build our flightdeck with the monitor visible below ?

Tell me what you think.

Yes it could be the solution, but as you said, it will become bigger than the real one ... Out of my realistics goals .. But doesn't matter Smile

I wonder that with 5 cm added, I'm afraid for my knees and Legs. Confused

Can you not just remove the case from the monitor, and mount it an a wooden frame?

Yes, I think it is the most interesting solution. But I wonder about the 3 years guarantee of my monitor. I'll buy new monitors. I'ms not sure it will be repaired if any problem occurs Wink

For those that are not aware. There is some serious voltage inside these CRTs.. Be VERY careful. Very..
Many times for cost savings the monitor manufacturors use the plastic case to support the internal parts. When you take away the case the support is not as it was designed. Another thing to watch for.

Try and get hold of some second hand monitors. I have a second hand 21" monitor that cost me almost nothing, and it works fine.

Try emailing a big company near you to see what they are throwing away, you'll be amazed!

I've already gone to my local dump and found all sorts of usefull pulleys, cogs and belts from old machine that people just throw away, I'm hoping to use them in my linked rudder pedals.
