To a newbie like me (or is that a wannabie?), all this Epic/Photon/FSBUS/Hagstrom/etc/etc. is way over my head!

Are they all means to the same end?

Which is best??

Does it matter???

Help???? Sinking before even launched!

I'm thinking I should take up stamp collecting or something else less 'stressfull'

What is needed, maybe, is for some of the "old pros" to create a HowTo section for cockpit building, software usage, networking, etc. all the common task segments needed to build a sim.

I got the idea from some other sites. Usually a FAQ/HowTo section with the basics all posted, step by step. It is a real helpful thing for those starting out.

Does anyone know if this interface is a good option? i.e. parallel port. I'm just investigating the types of interfaces and this looked promising.

If anyone is comptilating getting an interface for your cockpit now I would strongly urge you to wait a week or so as InterfaceIT sounds like the easiest solution to date. Ok maybe not as cheap as others but wouldnt you rather have a unit that is MADE for your glare panels instead of just a general one? It also USB which mens it would be alot easier to link up more than one unit per PC. A USB hub would mean you would only need 1 USB port for the computer.

I dont know anything in detail about the product other than what peter is saying publically but I would assume it was USB 2.0 which requires a bit more (i think!!) and this could mean you need to upgrade your Power Supply Units if running a very small one. Im not to sure about this maybe an expert on the forums with computers such as Norman could answer this in more detail.

Im just trying to provide "my two cents". I am not trying to sell you anything but I do think it will be the best solution all around!

I know it's an infuriating question but any idea when, roughly, the interface will be announced?

I have a 2 week holiday coming up in 3 weeks time and I would like to devote all that time to the sim. I am a little strapped for cash at the moment so I have to decide whether to:

a) order\start the pedastel from FDS or
b) start interfacing all the wires in my FCU

The decision is based on the availabilty of the interface.

Best regards,

P.S. Wow, the Elite MCDU looks fantastic. I can't wait to get my hands on one of those at some later date!
