Has anyone managed to isolate the various sounds in MSFS2004? i.e. The ATC comes over the headset, the engine sound and environment comes from externally placed speakers?

Don't even know if it is possible.

It is if you use VATSIM etc!

On the one PC can be obtained by using a USB headset which acts like its own sound card therefore you can have the two on different systems. Plantronics DSP-XXX range is USB and VERY good i have the -100

Captflyby,
What I found works is put FS9 on other cpus turn all graphics to lowest and use Wideview to mesh the programs synchronized, same as you would with views. Put very strong bass outside your sim and only turn up engine sounds all other things to 0, then ATC up nly for headset, then finally other sounds as required inside speakers. This works great also I use a small PA for cabin announcements and ATC files through FDC (Flight Deck Companion) hope this helps.

Some folks have split Stereo Left and Right. ( I think!)...
Left is Engine sounds and ATC would be on the right for example.
Maybe I was dreaming.. (I normally dream about parts I have to make though so this post could be 100% fiction)

Thanks to all for the great suggestions.

Have any of you used transducers in the lower and back area of the seats and under the floor where the feet rest. I have read that this can give a very marked increase in sensation. Especially during takeoff.

It sounded like something that would not be that hard to incorporate while the wiring is going in.
