Hello gentlemen,

My name is Jean-philippe. I live in France. I work as a train driver in the national railway company. My project started in 2006. FDS was already the best parts supplier for cockpit builders. The 747 is pretty unusual in cockpit building, mostly because it is very hard to find the parts (I think). Fortunately, FDS is the only company who has such a wide choice for the 744, and I hope it will stay for a long time !

I purchased my first pieces in 2006. My project took a very long time to grow up, but it grew very quickly within the past 2 years. The parts of the overhead you'll see are the old kits providen by FDS, without IBL. It is a little bit harder to build, but very cleverly designed. The CDU's are also old Elite ones, I'll have to change very soon because they do not interface with PSX. I switched to PSX last mounth, after many years of using Project Magenta. It is a wonderfull software. My interface is based on IOCards providen by Opencockpits. The great software PSXSeecon makes the link between PSX and SIOC (opencockpits software). Everything works like a charm now, no more bugs, only pleasure and (hard) training. The MIP is a new one, with IBL. The set MIP + Glare from FDS is so easy to build that I decided to upgrade my old parts and buy this set. The MCP and EFIS control panels are old ones, without IBL. I made a mix of old and new parts of FDS Very Happy

I built a metal shell but the interior is not finished yet, so don't be surprised to see it wrapped with carton. I also built a 3 projectors visual system. The next phase is the overhead interface, I'm waiting my opencockpits order within a few days. I'm aslo waiting for the MIP ALTN FLAPS, GEAR and GPWS switches from FDS, within a few days also, to finish populate my MIP. I tried to send some selected pictures to show the different stages of the construction. Enjoy !

Warm welcome on this side of the pond , Captain .
(I know J.Philippe from a Euro forum and his work and dedication are outstanding.)

You may connect with John Boe here, I think he is also switching to PSX from PM.

Thank you for your kind words to all. I just finished wiring and programming my overhead interface. It's simply amazing ! Next step : FDS CDU's to interface with PSX.

Some picture of the interface wiring. Everything is integrated within the overhead "box". It is tight but organized (for me) Very Happy

Little lights test before to put the overhead back to the cockpit :

Jean-philippe

Thank you Jon. You are my reference in 747 simulators. Your setup is awesome and my dream is one day to get such an achievement. PSX is fantastic ! We, 747 builders are very lucky.

Cheers,
Jean-philippe
