Maybe your custom covers would need some openings to avoid temp build up.
Not sure about that but worth checking.

Hi Jack,

Good point. Not sure there is much heat generated, but to be safe I will modify the design to include some vent holes in the top.

Thanks

David

Today I continued with firing up the MIP and got all screens lined up and announciators and put tons/knobs tested.

All seems to work with the only issue I have to resolve is the LE transit and LE Extended announciators have the colors reversed (not sure why yet).

David

I think it may be just LED colour.
Try removing and swapping the LED boards on the announciators

Cheers

Got everything working today on the MIP/Glaresheild/CDU. It was really fantastic to see it all come to life.

Tomorrow I need to do some final wiring and tidy up and the. Over the weekend I will start to fit it into the nose section.

Got all the wiring in the MIP done and tidied up as well as modifying and re-printing the covers for the ibl dim-dist boards and the Flight Illusion controler to include vent holes as per Jacks suggestion.

I also moved the MIP into the nose and started fitting the lower liners.

Today I got the forward and aft lower liners fitted and the upper section just held in with tape to check fit which is fine and until I receive my windows.

I will hold off on installing the roof liners until I receive and install the forward and aft overhead.

I also installed some maintenance lights inside the nose section behind the MIP so I can see what I am doing when working. These are 6 under kitchen counter 12v lights that I got from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WQFOZQ2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_a2eExbWWK7K6X and have a remote for turning them on and off which makes it very convenient. You can see from the attached image that they provide plenty of light.

I also "designed" a drink holder and document holder for the forward lower panel which I am currently 3D printing.

One last thing I did today was fix the MIP to the platform, the top of which is 3/4" MDF.

Rather than using wood screws, I opted to use thread inserts and then 1/4" bolts which would make it easier if I had to remove the MIP.

Just a note:
On my setup the side windows were installed inside before setting the upper liners in place.
I would recommend the other way around : windows installed outside (5crewed in or double side taped) so that if you have to change or remove one window pane it would not be necessary to remove the liners.

Velcro works as well.

Thanks for the info Jack. I guess that is not so aesthetically pleasing, but maybe more practical?

Is this what you do on installs Steve, attach the side windows to the outside of the shell with Velcro?

Thanks

Yes, allows for easy removal. Some installs need the windows removed for better airflow in some climates.

Thanks Steve.

Separate question, do you have any issues fitting Flight Illusion gauges in the forward overhead?

Thanks

David
