Whilst in the cruise more often than not I find the aircraft rolling gently from left to right.

This kind of oscillation is in real life is called Dutch Roll and is normally cancelled out by the yaw damper. I suspect this is not the case in this simulator but never the less is there anyway I can damp this role in motion out a little.

In 1.70 I was seeing a bit of roll oscillation as well. I found that changing the roll_stabiliity setting in the aircraft.cfg file fixed that nicely.

In the aircraft.cfg file go to:

[Flight_Tuning]
Roll_stability = 0.9

Change that value to 1.1

That change does not seem to have affected any other characteristics for me but has essentially eliminated unrealistic roll oscillation.

I am finding that pitch and yaw stability with 1.70 is excellent. It flies really nicely!

ok I'll try that mod here and see what happens.
But like you say, I suspect not a lot.
If it stops the oscillation you're seeing, and doesn't affect anything else, I might adopt that mod on the aircraft.

Early days but I just did a short flight and went very well with the above mod.

The oscilations were more noticeable with a strong crosswind but I'm confident progress has been made here.

Yes,

Make the changes as described above. Back up your configuration file first though in case of mistakes you can go back.

I have applied that mod to the aircraft and it'll be included with all future uploads.

Hi Mark,

Mark, I getting these roll oscillations and I'm wondering how to get rid of them. I'm using Sim A v1.70, P3Dv3.4 with Hot Fix 3, ASA16 updated to current version, FSUIPC 4.963.

I had the occasional roll oscillations before updating to the current P3D with HF3. Since the latest Hot Fix I seem to have them all the time now. I have made the change in the aircraft.cfg from 0.9 to 1.1 but the problem still persist. I also have reset the Autopilot in Sim A several times.

Any suggestions as to where to look next?

Thanks,
Larry

On the A/P Tuning Tab : try reducing the HDG Select - Turn Aggression"
Take it down by a few thousand to..22000 or 18000 or 16000

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the reply.

Just before I do as you mentioned I want to make sure we are on the same wavelength.

The roll oscillations I'm having is happening in the roll axis. Straight and level flight I'm getting this wobbling back and forth. This can also be seen on the Lower EICAS with the ailerons constantly moving up and down. This wobbling also happens when I go into a roll. The weather is not causing it as I tried a flight last night without any weather and it was doing the same thing.

Thanks,
Larry

Hi Mark,

I did as you requested but it didn't make a difference.

I did a flight tonight and this is what I found. There wasn't any oscillations until I got over FL280, at FL290 there was a very slight movement, FL300 there was a stronger movement it got stronger until about I reached about FL330 and it remained about the same even at FL360.

This all seem to come about after upgrading to the latest P3D3.4 HF3 and the latest FSUIPC.
