B737-800 / 737 MAX Project (BELGIUM)

Hi fellow builders,

Finally I've moved to my new location and am able to start the BIG works.
I've started last week by constructing the floor structure (skeleton) for my B737-900 cockpit. Below you can find some pictures of the construction of it.

First pictures of spherical screen

Hi,

After intense calculations, I've started to build my spherical screen (height 238cm, radius 145.5cm).

Currently at 45°, 225° to go.

I know. But I can't do that for the moment based on my current projector selection. Each on creates a screen of approx. 278cm by 200cm from a distance of approx 130cm by a 20 to 40 degree of angle. So the top of the screen would never get projected properly. It is the only way to get 270° for the moment.

Maybe in the future when I decide to get other projectors. But, I think this way we still keep something at hand for continuous improvement. :lol:

Do you mean 270 FOV???!!!!

Whats wrong with you kids? :lol:
The human eye(s) only have a FOV of 180 max.
Level-D Simulators only require 200 FOV...

I know, just as nat said. But, I had the wood and the place, so I thought why not using it and fill up the space. More scenery to watch during the flight :P

G is the vertical radius any particular scientific dimension
or just a nice generic curve?

Hi Nat.

In fact yes and no. The tilting is based on the angle of the projection, eye position, etc...
It has a very very very very large radius.
In short, you can can say it is only a fraction of that circle and is tilted.

I didn't do all of the maths for it. I had some help on that area. If you like, I can get the information on how EXACTLY is has been calculated (Formulas, etc...) To give figures (dimensions) is a bit difficult since everyone has different room sizes... and like Jack states, it's only how far you will/can go :lol:

I'm gonna use very thin plywood as coverage. So I hope when placing it, it won't be not to diffucult. :o Keep you posted on that one shortly.

Gents, here's a tip from another project I'm contemplating: stitch'n glue! Used for building boats. Basically, you cut plywood into different shapes, then "stitch" them together with zip ties or brass wire. Then use epoxy and glass fiber on all the seams. When dry, remove the ties / wires and cover with epoxy and glass fiber. Easy to sand and make smooth, EXTREMELY durable - no need for excessively reinforcing the thing. On this project, thin plywood and epoxy could be a real timesaver.

Good luck! This is going to be one sick setup! :)

Maybe I'm wrong but you are actually trying to make a spherical surface and to the best of my RAM plywood can only be bent in one dimension! :?:
