Hi Everyone,
Has anyone noticed a consistent hydraulic QUANTITY difference (HYD Q %) between Engine 1 (89%) and Engine 2 (99%) in the 737 EICAS dispaly?

A bug possibly?

Regards,
Jim

I have noticed it here. I have 17.8 and 21.2 litres but in a way, having them not exactly the same seems a bit more realistic to me.

Hi Andy,
You're probably right ........just doesnt seem intuitive that would be the case though......if it was my car , I'd be worried, but then my car has only one engine! (haha)

regards,
Jim

This link maybe useful to explain hydraulics...........

http://www.b737mrg.net/downloads/b737mrg_hydraulics.pdf

A vlaue of HYD Q% = 88% is the "refill limit"

Those values indicate the levels in the HYD A and B reservoirs.

LE Flaps, Gear and Spoilers all require Hyd fluid in their actuators and therefore varying amounts of fluid is transferred from the reservoir at different stages of flight depending on the Hyd demands.

The HYD QTY levels should be checked on the ground, Flaps UP, Spoilers down etc.

The Refill level on the NG is 76%.
So prior to engine start you would want more than 76% displayed.

In Flight : Flap UP, Gear Up, apprx 20% of the HYD A fluid is sitting in the Landing Gear Actuators, used to retract the gear.
As you lower the gear you will see this fluid return to the reservoir.

LE Flaps and Slats are supplied from Reservoir B.

Flight spoilers will use fluid from both reservoirs.

One other interesting item....
The Engine Driven pumps can move 37 gpm, where-as the Elec Pumps can only provide 6 gpm.
Therefore if you switch off the Engine Pumps and one of the Elec pumps, leaving just a single Elec pump running, rapid movements with large deflections of the aileron, elevator and rudder can demand more than 6 gpm, causing the Low Press light to momentarily illuminate.
