Hi Mark,
I've noticed that one of the critical audible stall warnings is missing. The AIRSPEED LOW warning specifically.........I assume it is in the 737-800NG?

Can this be added in the upcoming v.1.95 please?

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,

So this is a free software update to the real aircraft, it was issued as a SB to the operators on August 2015. The letter to the operators is as follows;

Dear B737 operators,

IATA has been approached by the Boeing Company to help communicate the importance of implementing SB 737-34A2292 “NAVIGATION - Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System - Air Speed Low Alert Changes”.

Implementation in your fleets of this free software upgrade will help reduce the risk of Loss of Control – In Flight events as described by the Service Bulletin:

“This service bulletin gives instructions to replace the Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) Computer. The changed EGPWS computer includes new software. The new software installs the Airspeed Low Aural Alert.

If this change is not done, the flight crew will not have an aural alert of a low airspeed condition.

The Primary Flight Display (PFD) will give a visual alert when the speed box turns amber when the airspeed drops 30% or more into the amber band. The new EGPWS computer gives the flight crew the aural alert "AIR SPEED LOW, AIR SPEED LOW" when the speed box turns amber. Accomplishment of this service bulletin will give the flight crew more awareness of a low airspeed condition.”

Please find attached a copy of the Boeing/Honeywell Service Bulletin.

Furthermore, you are kindly requested to advise :
1. Have you already implemented the Bulletin? (Yes/No)
2. If No, are you planning to implement the bulletin ? (Yes/No)

Looking forward to hear from you soon and,
Best regards

IATA Safety Team

I think Mark can add this as an option rather than permanently as the real world update is also optional.

Omer

Hi Omer,
Thanks for your reply, information and explanation.

I have seen the upgrade in action on YouTube and I think it would be very useful if it is incorporated into Sim-Avionics.

Thanks for the info Omer.

Yes Steve and I recently noticed it popped up on Youtube.
It's currently being tested. Wink
